And some of my favorite feature films of the past year.
LEATHERHEADS
Yes, I know this film did not do all that great in the box office or with critics. However, I did enjoy the quirkiness of the dialogue. George Clooney as writer and director brought back a lot of the old film ways. Tight shots on faces and fast dialogue. Plus again, my man candy John Krasinski.
ADVENTURES OF POWER
Ok, I know this is hokey, but this gem premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival (which Ronston and I attended) and filmed in Utah. I know, way to boost my career with a little shout out. It has not been picked up by distributors yet, but when it does, I highly suggest it for a good laugh.
SEX AND THE CITY
How can the fashions and debauchery of this movie not be loved? It was loved on the TV show and I loved it in the movie. How do I get Carrie Bradshaw’s wardrobe? I could have lived without the nudity of some of the ladies, especially in HD. Let’s be honest, some have not aged well.
MARLEY AND ME
This is the newest feature to the list as it was just viewed last week. If you have not read the book on which it is based, read it. If you own a dog you will laugh and cry. The movie will cause the same.
THE DARK KNIGHT
The most anticipated movie of the year. Brilliant performances by all actors, except for maybe Maggie Gyllenhaal. Surprising since I normally enjoy her. Just goes to prove my point that women should just stay at home and clean. Heath Ledger’s portrait of the Joker is haunting and will raise the bar for all comic book villains from now on. The movie is not hurt at all with Christian Bale either. He is just ever so beautiful.
HONORABLE MENTION: TROPIC THUNDER
If you saw this movie, you understand the very beginning with the fake trailers is what made this movie and not since CHANCES ARE have I enjoyed Rober Downey Jr. so much.
